Ipsy November Glam Bag

It’s been awhile since I subscribed to the Ipsy Bag.  It’s now $12.99 per month and when I used to order them, it was only $9.99!! A big price increase! But I love the little samples it comes with and the cute bags! November’s Ipsy bag is really cute because it’s leopard print and I love animal print! The five products exclusively for me were pretty cool except for the lipstick color that is a little too light for me, but it still seems like a really decent feel and brand.

I still have a lot of my Ipsy Bags from years ago and I usually use them to put items in them such as my lip products, baby powder oil, lotion, and other little things I can put in my purse.  I definitely will be switching out my bag for this cute little animal print friend!

This sexy liquid eyeliner is definitely on point and has it’s fierce side to it! This eyeliner is by Skone Cosmetics which is called Insanely Tattooed Mini Eyeliner in Jet Black.  I love doing cat-eyes with my eyeliner, so with this sample, I can definitely put in work to my eyes! I tried it on for the first time yesterday and I love it! I am used to the eyeliner pencil, so I still have some adjusting to do with the liquid kind.

This product is for a bodily glow on the go! GiGi Gorgeous is the brand I never tried.  I haven’t quite tried this yet because I never tried any body glow products period, so when I do try it, I will have to do a follow-up quick post on it.  But the color matches my skin perfectly and I can’t wait to try it!This product is named for the Youtube personality, author and activist Gigi Gorgeous.

This is the Hola Neon Brand Tinted Lip Balm.  Like I mentioned earlier, I’m not a big fan of this color simply because of my complexion.  I only wear dark colors like burgundies, plums and dark reds.  I can still try it on again every now and then.  Hopefully in my next Ipsy Bag, there will be a color I will enjoy more.

Lotions are definitely my favorites because I am constantly lotioning and moisturizing my hands.  I tried this for the first time last week and the smell is citrus and smells amazing!!! This is by Delectable by Cake Beauty Triple Citrus Blend Butter Balm Hand Cream.  An awesome choice!

I love eye shadows especially nude and light colors! When I saw this little sample Pixi by Petra brand called Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in Naturally Dude, I was excited.  I haven’t tried it on yet, but I definitely will tomorrow.  Nude colors goes with just about everything.  That’s why I use a lot of nudes when I just want a natural finish look and don’t feel like putting on a whole lot of make up.

I can honestly say that I am satisfied with my November Ipsy Bag.  There will be some months where I will skip because I already have a lot of make up stored in my room.  I will probably get the December bag and skip January.  I can’t to share with you what’s in my December Ipsy Bag! Stay tuned!!!

Outfit of The Day

One thing I like working at Kohl’s on the weekend is the fact we can wear jeans and any shirt except for graphic tees.  Because VA weather in October is bipolar and some days it gets hot and other days are cold.  That’s why now I’m feeling a little sick because of this weather. I wanted to share a little bit of what I usually wear on the weekends. My style is very unique and simple.  I don’t always follow the fashion trend out here just because I like my own style and I’m very content with that.  Today I am wearing a black and pink hoodie I got from Rainbow Shops in Williamsburg, VA a couple of weeks ago that has Faith on the front and back as well.

I love inspirational hoodies and shirts because it makes me feel good.  My outfit costs less than $80 and sometimes you have to learn how to shop smart without going over your budget!

My high top converses came from Kohl’s when they had the 35 percent off for associate shop.  I ended up paying probably less than thirty dollars for them.  I love these shoes because of the colors and the fact that these are my very first high-tops with converses.  All my other ones are low tops.  The jeans I had for years and years and believe it or not, they still fit! LOL.  I didn’t put the jewelry to go along with it, but I will be wearing silver hoop earrings and no necklace only because of how the neck is set up on the hoodie.

Cell Phone Case Addiction: Save Me Now!

I don’t ever want to limit myself on the number of obsessions I decide to share on my blog posts because they will vary.   So today in this new blog post I have another obsession and a product review all at the same time.

Ever since I owned a cell phone, I always had a heavy addiction to phone cases.  Over the years, I had about 12 cases for each phone! I know that sounds really crazy, but that was the honest truth! They were different ones from Disney to blinged out ones to water proof cases.  But now that I have a new I phone, I only have three cases for this one.  I just recently changed my phone case and put on the new army print Military Grade phone case which I love because it makes my phone bigger than it already is.  I love the way it looks and feel on my phone and the fact it has a strap is even better!

Trust me, this is my last phone case! I can’t continue wasting money on new phone cases when I know good and well I can’t wear all of them. LOL. I have three so I can rotate whenever I feel like it.   Now that I have a better I Phone, I just love using the picture effects and portrait mode for my pictures.  They look very professional.  So no more phone cases for me. The one I just recently purchased on Amazon I truly love!

Five Things You Can’t Live Without

There are a lot of things that you can’t live without such as money, water, food, your cellphone of course and others.  Tell me your top five things that you can’t live without below in the comments.  For now, I will just list my top five things that I can’t live without and I hope you feel the same way.

Sweets– I have a serious sweet tooth that desires a lot of sweets such as Little Debbie cakes and some candies.  Now my favorite sweet is the soft chocolate chip cookies.  To be honest, I can eat a whole tray in a day.  I know that it isn’t good to do that, but sometimes I can’t help it thinking about the sweet chocolate taste.  Sounds good doesn’t it?

Chips: Yeah I know what you are thinking.  Her whole list will be food. LOL But actually it won’t be.  Lately I have been craving Ruffles or Lays original chips.  Just last week I ate about two bags a day and my stomach wasn’t really all that excited.  But now I am trying to cut back on how many bags I eat a day.  Like right now while I’m typing this post, I have a small bag of Doritos next to me on my desk.  That will be my only bag of chips today.

Money– I don’t care what anyone else says, you can’t live without money! It’s what you pay your bills with, your car note, buy groceries with and etc.  How can you buy a house or rent an apartment without having money? Even though I’m guilty of spending money on things I don’t need, we all still need it.

Family– If you have family, then be grateful because some people don’t have family to rely on and to depend on.  I am grateful for my parents, grandparent and close aunts and uncles.  That is something I definitely can’t live without.

Clothes and Shoes– ( I know that’s two items but they go hand in hand LOL) I have so many clothes and shoes that I got to have because it’s part of my style.  I don’t want to be naked or barefooted all the time, so clothing and shoes is a must! Don’t you agree readers?

Please email me at theriverzgurlbrand@outlook.com for your top five list of things you can’t live without.  I would love to hear your responses.  Also I will respost them in the next blog post called “My followers and readers Top Five”

FB_IMG_1544051439553.jpg

MBK4L Ralo’s Annual Bday Bash “Bag Season Tour” took place at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC In Birmingham, Alabama with MBK’s artists “Lil Bam, YBN DayDay, Rudy Ru, Whitt, along with special celeb guests Pap Chanel, Hoodrich Pablo Juan, Key Glock, and Lil Baby. This concert was a different vibe for the city. This was also one of the biggest shows I’ve ever shot, lineup wise.

FB_IMG_1544051410197.jpg

It was great to get these artists under my portfolio. I also connected with other fellow photographers and press members there. It’s always good to network because you never know who you’ll run into and who could be your lifetime business partners or potential clients. Shout out to DJ Dirty Vegas, DJ New Era, 3000Ent, and MBK4L for putting on such a calm, collective, and good event.

International Author Promotes Sickle Cell Disease through her Children Books

Sickle.cells_122
Jenica Leah is an award winning children’s author and publisher and referred to as one of the UK’s leading ambassadors for sickle cell.  Living with sickle cell anaemia herself, she has battled with the many complications that come with the disorder including having a stroke at 14 and a hip replacement at 25; but she has never let this stop her from being who she is. From being a full-time model to organising and managing catwalks with an international events specialist, Jenica Leah refuses to let her condition hold her back.  After undergoing total hip replacement surgery in 2014, which changed her whole outlook on life and her perception of her illness, Jenica Leah vowed to help others living with the sickle cell condition by being more open about her health and her journey, and by doing more to create awareness and get people talking about it. With her confidence and determination, she doesn’t see life as challenging; instead she sees the world as her oyster with endless possibilities.

TRGB Media: Tell us about yourself a little more

Jenica Leah: My name is Jenica Leah and I am a 29-year-old from the UK living with sickle cell SS. Referred to as one of the UK’s leading ambassadors for sickle cell, I share my journey via my blogs Me Myself & sickle cell on my blogsite and on YouTube.. I am also a publisher and the award-winning author of the first children’s book series about sickle cell entitled My Friend Jen which was released in 2016.

TRGB: When did you first learned that you were diagnosed with Sickle Cell?

Jenica Leah: I was diagnosed from birth. My parents both knew they had the trait and knew there was a chance I would have sickle cell. They got the positive results 6 weeks after I was tested at birth.

TRGB: How is your whole experience living with the disease? What symptoms do you suffer the most from?

Jenica Leah: My experience living with sickle cell now is manageable, however it has taken me years of complications and learning to understand my body to get to this point. I would say the symptoms I have suffered from the most aside from bad pain crisis is all the unknown complications that can come with sickle cell as I feel like I have had almost all of them. I always used to have pneumonia as baby and toddler and spent a lot of time in hospital; my first crisis I was around 9 months old. I had a stroke at 14, acute chest syndrome at 16 which very nearly took my life, gall stones throughout my teenage years which lead to me eventually having my gall bladder removed at 24. I was diagnosed with Avascular necrosis in both hips and I had a total hip replacement in my left hip when I was 25 as a result. I have also had multiple blood clots, and liver cholestasis. All complications caused as a result of my sickle cell and the way it has affected my body.

TRGB: Was becoming an author something, you always wanted to do? What was the journey like?

Jenica Leah: I have always loved writing as it is my outlet for certain things. I always find writing about good days allow me to remember how I was feeling and enjoy the moment longer, and writing about bad days or tough times allows me to get it out of my system so I can let it go and not harbor negative emotions. Becoming an author was not something I had planned to do at all but the moment I decided to turn what I had written into a book I was motivated to get it done; nothing and no one was going to stop me. The journey was fun although I encountered a lot of bumps in the road which I had to find a way over in terms of getting my book published.

TRGB: What was the inspiration behind your book “My Friend Jen?”

Jenica Leah: The inspiration behind my book was to be able to give something to children who are growing up living with sickle cell today that would provide them with peace of mind about their condition and also let them know that having sickle cell should not stop them from achieving their dreams — no matter what they are.  Growing up I despised the fact that I had sickle cell and always used to ignore it or try and hide it; mainly because I didn’t understand what it was so it was difficult to explain that to others. With the first My Friend Jen Book it’s a simple way to explain what sickle cell is and the basics of how someone living with it can stay well.

TRGB: I see on your IG page that you have a lot of supporters with your book and movement. How is the marketing going for your book?

Jenica Leah: When I initially published and released my book I honestly didn’t have a marketing plan. I just released it and went with the flow but the feedback and amount of support I had was unbelievable and that’s when I realized that I had created something so beautiful and so beneficial, especially for children who had sickle cell and children with parents who have sickle cell. By that point my book was more less marketing itself, I believe because it is the only one of its kind at the moment.

IMG_9018

TRGB: Since the book release, what type of events has the book participated in?

Jenica Leah: Since the books release It has been nominated for and won awards, been highlighted by news outlets, book stores and in particular has had a major impact in health conferences and pharmaceutical research. I also launched something called My Friend Jen Projects to be able to host my own events for the book which would help those in other communities around the world who may not be able to have access to the book otherwise. The book donation projects have been a huge success so far with regular sponsors and encouragement for it to continue.

TRGB: When does the sequel to the first book come out? Is it the same concept from the first book?

Jenica Leah: The sequel will be released within the next several weeks and is now available to pre-order at a reduced price. My Friend Jen was always intended to be a series of books that follows Jen on her journey growing up with sickle cell so the concept is somewhat the same and readers can learn more about sickle cell and the things Jen goes through.

TRGB: Are you currently working on any new projects?

Jenica Leah: The next major project we have will be the Jamaica book donation project which will take place between January and March 2019. So far, we have done book donation projects in Gambia and Nigeria so we are really looking forward to Jamaica being the 3rd book donation project.

TRGB: How has becoming an author made you a better person?

Jenica Leah: Becoming an author has made me appreciate writers a lot more as I know the depths one has to go through to be able to produce a book that makes a difference. More than anything though, I would say that becoming an author has made me humble and motivated to continue to advocate for sickle cell as I can see how my children’s book and even my blog, has helped people to become more confident in sharing their journeys with sickle cell also.

TRGB: How can readers connect with you?

Jenica Leah: Readers can connect with me via @myfriendjenbooks on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. They can also keep up to date with everything I have going on including new My Friend Jen releases and updates, projects and events by subscribing to the Me Myself & Sickle Cell blog site:  http://www.jenicaleah.wordpress.com

TRGB: As an advocate of SCD, what types of projects or events do you participate in to bring more awareness in the communities?

Jenica Leah: I try and get involved in as much events in the community as I can whether it’s fundraising events, motivational events or even fun days for children; there is always space to highlight sickle cell. I have also arranged blood donation days to encourage more blood donors and been involved in youth and school projects too.

Wal-Mart Picks up Possible Cosmetics for Online Selling

Possible Cosmetics is growing each and every day! CEO and Owner Renata Roundtree is making major moves within her company and plans to expand larger into retail stores all over the globe.  Move over MAC and Clinique, Possible Cosmetics will soon be taking over!

IMG_3371

TRGB Media: It’s been a few months since TRGB has interviewed you about your success and beauty line Possible Cosmetics. Since then, what have you been up to?

Renata Roundtree: Oh Honey lol SO much! I think the BIGGEST thing that We’ve been up to is FINALLY getting into Major Retail! Im too excited of course we’ll discuss this more 🙂

TRGB Media: Congratulations on Possible Cosmetics being apart of Wal-Mart online. What was your reaction?

Renata Roundtree: Honestly, lol I still can’t process it, I’ve been secretly going back and forth with Walmart for a long time. I didn’t tell anyone because I really wasn’t sure the outcome! In fact, they denied me first but I literally called, emailed (and Walmart is actually impossible to reach) I did not take NO for an answer! There’s still LOTS of work to do but we’re in there!

TRGB Media: How has sales and marketing been going? Do you have a team that helps you push sales or are you the only one?

Renata Roundtree: Let’s just say I’m not a Millionaire yet lol… I do have a virtual assistant that helps when need be. However, the bulk of the marketing and sales are driven by me or by other channels that I use. Social media has been a big help but I absolutely plan to have a team to help me plan and execute better. Marketing to be honest is my weakness I actually hate it lol

IMG_3370

TRGB Media: Let’s talk about current and future projects. Are you working on anything exciting?

Renata Roundtree: Yes. We are gearing up to hit a MAJOR retailer in Atlanta!!! Everyone knows that ATL is my second home. I can’t announce it just yet, but 1st Quarter 2019 Possible Cosmetics will be in stores in Atlanta GA!!!

TRGB Media: Also, I see that you are the guest speaker for Dreams to Founder Workshop and one of the panel spotlights for Glambitious. Tell us more about that.

Renata Roundtree: Yes, Im EXTREMELY excited to be apart of these events! One thing about me is I enjoy the empowerment portion of business. I like it more then selling Cosmetics lol I was born for it I have a radiant personality I can capture almost any audience I’m in front of and I have a story to tell. I’m serious when I say empowerment is so much more fulfilling to me, I’d much rather be doing these sorts of events more often!

TRGB Media: Are you still teaching young professionals how to start their own make up line? How has that been going?

Renata Roundtree: Yes, I actually just launched our digital course “ How to start a cosmetic line 101” on our website! That’s another thing that I enjoy.  Its selling pretty good and I take pride in helping someone establish a business! I’m a believer that you are able to share the information you have, especially within your community!

image3 (3)

TRGB MEDIA: Does Possible Cosmetics have any new products in store?

Renata Roundtree: We actually just launched our pressed shimmer powders!! The customers are responding to those very well and I’m getting amazing feedback!

TRGB Media: How many years have you been in business?

Renata Roundtree: Well, I started this business journey in 2010 with designing custom shoes! I must admit at that time I had NO idea what I was doing. Lol I just knew I was gifted to create sells, Instagram ads; all those other things didn’t click to me yet until I started Possible Cosmetics in 2016! I’m a much better business owner now.

TRGB Media: What are some unique things that Possible Cosmetics offers that no other make up line offers?

Renata Roundtree: I don’t really see other makeup lines sharing their “secrets” here at Possible Cosmetics. We not only sell you a product, but we sell you information as well.  We also educate you to start your own business. So I’ll say the empowerment part is what is different about us!

TRGB Media: What is next in store for you and your business?

Renata Roundtree: RETAIL, RETAIL AND MORE RETAIL.  We WILL BE in every major retailer in America; I don’t care if it take me forever! We are planning a Possible Cosmetics TAKEOVER. We will be mentioned with the household names like MAC, Loreal, Este Lauder, Cover Girl etc…

TRGB Media: How can readers connect with you and purchase products?

Renata Roundtree: They can purchase our wonderful products along with our Courses at www.Possiblecosmetics.com also on walmart.com put *Possible Cosmetics* in the search bar 🙂

A New Rap Artist Sparking in the Hip Hop Era: Deetranada Tells it All

She is no stranger to the music world when it comes to getting her hands dirty.  Deetranada is from Baltimore and is already changing the game with her live activism through her music.  Her face might look familiar because she has been on Jermaine Dupri’s show, season three of The Rap Game, which is the most popular show on Lifetime.  The passion to started rapping was due to the fact that she used to get bullied a lot at a young age.  That motivated her even more when she was also was introduced to the poetry game where she used her words to talk about hardships and things she went through.

Deetranada has big dreams and big goals and being in the music industry was one of them. The opportunity of being on the Rap Game went smoothly being that she was already claiming that in the atmosphere before it actually happened.  Doing freestyles every Friday on Instagram, tagging became her best friend; tagging Jermaine Dupri and the Rap Game in her posts.  When JD started following her and the producer from the show reaching out to Deetranada asking her to be apart of the show paved other opportunities for the world knowing what she was really all about.  The only difference between her and the other kids on the show was that they had more experience with being in the studio and performing on the stage with celebrities, but that didn’t stop Deetranada from doing what she love the most.  She had the confidence to make things happen and through her music, she was doing actually what she was called to do and that was to make a difference through her rap.

The one thing that sets her apart from other rappers is the fact in her music she doesn’t cuss, but the biggest thing is talking about the things that are happening in the world right now.  She is a young activist living her dream and wanting to make a difference in her community and to the world.

“It’s kids dying, black-on-black crimes.  Most kid and adult rappers won’t speak on that,” says Deetranada during the interview.

DEETRANADA2

Five years from now Deetranada sees herself as being a millionaire and winning awards for the best female rapper for making a difference.  It’s all about speaking things into existence.   The latest project that she is working on is called “Dee vs. everybody which is set to be released this year.  Other projects she released was “A Bunch of Nada” that was released this past February and “Adolescence Swim” last June.  You can find all her music on You Tube, Spotify, iTunes on her website at www.deetranada.com

‘Luke Cage’ Actor Elijah Boothe talks about His Journey as an Actor and Next Moves

Marvel’s Luke Cage Actor, Elijah Boothe is no stranger when it comes to the acting field.  His breakout in the acting industry came in 2016.  He has acted alongside Moonlight Actor Mahershala Ali and others.  Elijah has earned significant parts in movies and tv series such as “Golden Boy,” “Coin Heist,” “Are We There Yet (the tv series), and “Blue Bloods” Besides acting, Elijah has been featured in international magazines such as Vogue, WWD and W Magazine.

How did you get started in the acting business? Did you go to school for it?

I sort of fell into the business at the age of 10 when I auditioned for The Lion King on Broadway and I’ve been doing it ever since.

Let’s talk about your character “Young Cottonmouth” on Luke Cage.  How did you land the role?

The audition process for me was very short actually. Of course, anything Marvel is super confidential, so I had no idea that it was Luke Cage initially. Casting called me in to read once, and the rest is history.

Were there any amazing people you met on set while filming?

Absolutely! Both the cast and crew were a blast to work with. Cheo Hadari Coker (Creator), Jeph Loeb (Producer), Akela Cooper (Producer), and Andy Goddard (Director) were all amazing to work with! They gave me full reign to create who I wanted Young Cottonmouth to be which was amazing. Also getting to work with the legendary Alfre Woodard, Latanya Jackson, and share the same character as Oscar Award Winner Mahershala Ali was mind blowing. I made sure to be a sponge and soak up all the knowledge I could from these veterans.

Image

What keeps you motivated and inspired doing what you love doing the most?

So many things but mainly my test and trials. My supporters definitely keep me going as well.

Out of all the films and tv shows you have been a part of, which ones has been your favorite and why?

I loved working on A Rainy Day In New York with Selena Gomez and Timothee Chalamet. I also had a blast working on Golden Boy on CBS with Greg Berlanti. Everyone was so amazing and gave me so much knowledge that I still carry with me to this day.

Do you have any upcoming projects coming up that you are able to discuss?

I start filming a new series soon called The Line Up alongside Isaiah Washington and La La Anthony. The Line Up is a story about various women who use their street smarts, wit, and sexual energy to dominate men. The women in this story know how to use what they have to get them what they want, and that’s money, power, and respect. I play Crit on the show.

image2

Where do you see yourself five years from now? Ten years from now?

Honestly, I just want to tell real stories that evoke change and inspire. I definitely see myself directing, writing, and producing very soon.

If you weren’t an actor, what would you be doing?

If I wasn’t acting I would definitely be singing full time. I grew up singing in the church so music will always be my first love.

Are you a big Marvel fan? If so, what are some of your favorite characters and movies?

I’m obsessed with Marvel which is why I freaked out when I found out I got the role on Luke Cage! WAKANDA FOREVER! Black Panther is definitely my favorite character of all time.

What’s next for Elijah Boothe?

I’ll be releasing my EP at the end of the year produced by Knxwledge

How can your readers connect with you? Social media links? Imdb link?

Overcoming My Fears and Trusting God

I had a bad day. It was one of those days where I allowed the struggles of my journey to consume me and harden my spirit.

As I sat silently on my couch I found myself thinking, “I will never know what it’s like to bring a child into this world, I will never experience motherhood, I will never this…I will never that…I will never.

I approached my husband and said, “I’m having one of those days. I don’t know about this kid thing. I don’t know if IVF or IUI is going to work. I don’t know if we’re going to get to experience being parents. I don’t know if….” and that’s when he stopped me and said, “Do you not trust God?” I replied, “Yes, but…”

Then stop worrying. All that is is fear. The devil wants you to be discouraged by making you believe that our journey will end without kids.” He said.

I sat silent for a moment because he was right.

He continued saying, “When that happens you have to stop and pray. No matter how you feel. Trust God Teresa. He will give you the desires of your heart. We will have children no matter what route we take. You do your part and let God do his.”

He was speaking the truth.

No, I didn’t walk away encouraged and ready to tackle my fears. I walked away feeling convicted because I really doubted God. I allowed the fear that crossed my mind to tackle my heart.

In that moment I prayed and asked God to forgive me for doubting him. Forgive me for thinking that he wouldn’t do what he said he would. Forgive me for thinking so negatively. Forgive me for allowing doubt to ruin my spirit. Forgive me…

Today is better. I’m working on tackling the fears that have been trying to attack my mind. I’m working on not allowing those thoughts to consume me. I know it’s going to get better. I trust God that it will.
