Ways to Stay Productive

Hello my fellow followers!

I am back on this page to share with you another post for my blog.  So I wanted to do a personal development piece because I find that very important.  How many of you guys know the importance of staying productive throughout the whole week? It is very important because if you are a goal slayer like me, then you should understand the importance of being productive and on top of your A game!  Here are some ways to staying productive .

  1. Write down your goals down; whether you are typing it on the computer or writing them down.  Make sure you are ahead of the ball game to what you want to achieve
  2. Meditate and pray about what it is that you want to accomplish in life
  3. If your job doesn’t require a lot of work (like mine for instance) and you aren’t that busy, work on some of your goals at work.  I always blog when I’m at my desk and I’m not that busy.  I work on interview questions or new book projects.  That way I will have those tasks knocked out the way.
  4. Stay focused! That’s the important part! In order to succeed at what your goals are, you must first stay focused and don’t allow distractions to get you off track!

Great Photography Apps for I phone Users

I’ve always been fascinated with taking pictures and editing them; more like me taking ten million selfies and photos of myself! LOL.  A couple of years ago, I saw a frog on the side of my house and back then I had an Android Samsung Galaxy and decided to take a picture of it.  I am very fascinated with taking unique and nature pictures as well as pictures of flowers.

The Do’s and Don’ts for Online Learning

I used to  think online learning was boring because you aren’t physically in the classroom.  I’m the type of person that likes to be in the actual classroom and look at the teacher while they are teaching.  The first time I took classes online (when I was planning to get my Masters of course) I didn’t really like it because one of my professors didn’t really know how to communicate as far as answering questions I had about one of my assignments.  I was frustrated and wanted to give up.  I actually withdrew from the program and school itself (the program wasn’t what I expected it to be) and decided that it wasn’t for me (the school and program of course)

When dealing with online learning, you have to remember that there are major differences to consider.  Check out the Do’s and Don’ts for online learning.

~Do study in a quiet place– It is very easy to get distracted so make sure you are in a place where you can focus.

~Do make your online program your top priority! If you plan to enroll in a program online or even just taking a class, make sure you are putting the class first so that you won’t fail.  Other activities you normally do may have to be put on the side for temporary if you aren’t able to juggle both.

~Don’t procrastinate!– That’s the worst you can do since you will have major deadlines for your assignments.  Just relax, breathe and stay focused!

~Don’t over study– Take breaks as needed.  Stressing isn’t healthy mentally or physically, so make sure you set a time to take breaks.

~Do have a reliable internet connection– All online learning is done strictly online, so make sure you have somewhere where there is internet such as the library, a friend’s house or a hot spot such as Starbucks or McDonald’s.

~Do make it a habit to get to know your instructors.  Having an open communication with them really helps.  When I was enrolled in my program online, most of my instructors gave out their personal cell numbers, so if we had any questions regarding the syllabus or the assignments, we were able to text or call them.

So if you are planning to take classes online, keep these tactics in mind and you will be just fine!

Five Ways to Motivate Yourself

Sometimes finding the right motivation can be hard.  For instance, getting up in the morning is one of the hardest for me.  But what get me motivated is knowing that I have new opportunities to look out for everyday.  It’s either get up or don’t go to work (I can’t afford to loose money)  There has to be some great tools you use to motivate yourself.  Here are five ways you can stay motivated!

  1. Play Your favorite music on your phone or on the radio.  Music can be great therapy when you feel like you are down in the dumps or you just don’t feel like doing anything.  If you have planned your goals for the rest of the year, then maybe getting through your day would be some quick tunes in your ear.  What is your favorite song that you have on repeat? (I know you have about a few, because I surely do!)
  2. Write down the reason why you started in the first place!  If you have a dream or a goal that you are trying to achieve, then ask yourself what made you start? Was it because you are a single mother with kids and you want them to become better than you or you have a whole lot of people counting on you? Whatever it is, write it down, meditate on it for a few minutes and get to work!
  3. Your haters! Of course they should motivate you because they are the ones who talk down on you and they definitely don’t want to see you prosper in life.  So proving them wrong is great motivation! Don’t give up and give them the benefit of the doubt!
  4. Self-encouragement.  When no one else is rooting for you or encouraging you, then it’s your job to motivate your own self.  Not everyone will do that, so it’s very important that the only person you rely on is yourself.
  5. Last, but not least reward yourself! After all of the hard work that you have put into the day of achieving all of your goals and building networking relationships with other business-minded people, it’s time to relax, pump the brakes and treat yourself to something nice.  After all, you deserve it!

REST, RENEW & RECHARGE YOURSELF!

Ah! when was the last time you took more than a few moments to rest from the daily pulls of life?  Seriously the demands of life here on earth in the current times we live in can place a strain on even the strongest people we know.  God never intended us to get so busy with the affairs of our lives that we never take the time to rest in the most sincere yet simplest forms of relaxation. When was the last time you took a long-winded walk around your neighborhood or local park just to do so? If your response is two weeks ago or longer – you may not be resting intentionally in order to renew yourself for your best interest and those family members and loved ones who are counting on you to live a long life. I happen to love running, cycling and live a very active lifestyle that also involves caring for my two daughters but even with my active lifestyle and as a vegetarian – I recently heard the Holy Spirit whisper Rest, Renew & Recharge! You see in the beginning when God completed creation in 6 days, he rested on the 7th day (Genesis 2:2). Even the Most High God knows we all need rest for he created rest.

If I am being totally transparent, as a single mom – the word rest has always sounded a bit foreign to me because I used to believe I needed to complete a majority of my long list of action items before resting. Perhaps you too have an extremely busy lifestyle that involves working full-time, caring for your loved ones and quite possibly your parents.  Listen, Jesus knows all the past, present and future demands you will ever face but in order to Renew – you must first find Rest. Your mind, heart, blood pressure and body will all thank you in the long run! Do not wait until you are faced with a health scare before you take the necessary rest you need. Consider good rest will lead to the re-establishment of your health in Christ Jesus! While this may be easier said than done, if you lead a busy lifestyle – make sure you seek the Lord’s help in showing you how to rest. One simple way I have found rest is by purposely leave my cell phone downstairs during my much needed rest period. Yep – I simply place my device in silent mode and disconnect from the world to avoid unnecessary interruptions. Our bodies are not electronic devices powered by batteries intended to operate in non-stop mode, No! we are limited human beings created by an unlimited God so rest is found first in our Heavenly Father.

So here’s to your goal of Recharging your body, mind and spirit. To Recharge simply means to regain energy or spirit! To fulfill all the things God has purposed us to do in the earth, we must regain energy expended during the course of our daily demands. What I know for sure is that my daughters are depending on the best version of me to take care of them. I simply cannot give them that best version unless I intentionally press pause on the pressures of this world, renew my mind in Christ Jesus by getting the much needed rest the Father intends for me to have.  Likewise you cannot be superwoman or superman to anyone while you are exhausted from the cares and demands of society.  Remember we are reminded in Matthew 11:28 “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Here are a few simple ways to add relaxation back into your daily routine:

Unplug your phone for an hour; Grab your journal, favorite cup of tea and sit outside for 30 minutes while you write a letter of gratitude for the many blessings you already have

Schedule a 1 hour massage which can help to relieve tense muscles.

Research shows those who intentionally unplug by resting purposefully are more productive in fewer hours than those who do not.

May we find comfort in Psalms 23:2 “He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams” (NLT).  I am standing in agreement with you as you Rest, Renew and Recharge for God’s glory!  Remember, you were fearfully and wonderfully made for such a time as this!

The Queen of Soul who has touched many hearts and lives has passed away earlier this morning at the age of 76.  Aretha Franklin was a very private person so a lot of people didn’t know she was battling with cancer for awhile.  During the last stages of life which media said she was “gravely ill” was on hospice home care surrounded by family and loved ones.

Overdosing is the REAL Thing! Don’t Judge!

There has been a lot of celebrity stars who has been dealing with a lot of issues; whether it’s family issues, dealing with low self-esteem or something else, celebrities has an image to pertain because everyone sees them on social media! Social media is filled with trolls with their ratchet comments and evil thoughts.  It’s no wonder a lot of celebrities are clapping back on social media and replying to unwanted comments.

But what I’m really saying is that overdosing is the real thing!  No one deserves to die from these horrible things nor should celebrities should be judged by most of their actions.  As I was interviewing BET Rebel actor Danielle Truitt, she talked about one of her movements called “Be Eternal; The Artist Thriving series which is a movement for artists in the entertainment industry who goes through a lot of life situations such as rejections, self-esteem, suicide and others.

Like with Demi Lovato and her addictions, she is going to rehab which is a great thing and a definite step to getting better.  Of course the trolls has already snuck their way into the comments and of course started their “ratchet chants and comments,” but her focus definitely should be on herself with her support system by her side and ignoring social media altogether.  It’s a shame what social media can actually do to a person mentally which all the fame taking over and pressure of keeping up with their entertainment buzz such as music and new albums, new products, new business and so forth.  Especially as a music artist, your fans expect you to produce new music often.

So the next time you read about a celebrity or anybody overdosing, don’t judge because you never know what that person is really going through.  If they are willing to change their life around, it proves they are taking the necessary steps on the right track.

When Your Plans Aren’t Working

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11

By Teresa Adams

You see – since I could remember children have always been something that I wanted. I love them – even the ones that need a little extra loving. I started babysitting at the age of 12 and loved all the phases of it. I loved walking the kids to the park, watching them play, walking them back to the house while singing songs, styling all the little girls hair, rough housing with the boys and reading bedtime stories.

I always told myself I wanted a big family – four kids – three boys and one girl. I wanted to start my family no more than two years after I got married. I prayed that the first three would be the boys and the last the girl.

Y’all. I had this planned and nothing was going to stop me; so I thought.

It was at the second year of marriage when I noticed that my plan was falling apart. My dreams of motherhood was slowly but surely slipping away. It was at that time that I began to feel hopeless.

Fast forward a few years – “When are you both planning on having children?” “You’ve been married that long and don’t have any little ones? Well, what are you waiting for?” “You better start having kids before you get too old.”

For years I would respond in a way I assumed would please the person asking. I would answer with one of the three canned retorts:

“My husband is getting out the military and we’re relocating.”

“We’re not ready right now. My husband is getting his Bachelors and I’m working on my Masters.”

“We’re relocating soon and would like to wait until we get settled in to our new destination.”

I responded for whatever season I was in at the time. However, the truth was I was having trouble and Endometriosis was the reason.

I remember the first time someone asked me a question about having children. I wanted to respond truthfully but I was ashamed, embarrassed and quite frankly not strong enough to answer any follow up questions. My embarrassment and shame eventually turned to anger and rage. I was so tired of all the baby questions. I wanted to scream LEAVE ME ALONE. But, all I could do was respond according to my season, fake a smile, go home and drown myself in tears.

So here is the truth…

I am 32 going on 33. My husband and I have been married 9 going on 10 years. We’ve been trying for 8 years with no success and I’m trying to stay strong and trust God. But if I can be honest – it’s hard.

My life without children is a hard pill to swallow. However, God renews my peace and strength daily so that I can keep fighting and pushing through. This is all in God’s plan and I rather his will be done than my own.

I don’t know what difficulties you’re facing today. It could be the same struggle I’m facing or it could be something completely different. But what I do know is that in the good times and the bad God is good.

The devil will come during your most vulnerable moments and try to convince you that God doesn’t care about what you’re going through and doesn’t love you enough to do anything to help you. Don’t listen. Instead, remember this:

  • God is Good
  • God loves you
  • God is a healer
  • God always wants the best for you

I know God will grant me the desire of being a mother one day. So until then I’ll wait patiently in peace because I know in the end when I see my child it would have been nothing but the promise of God.

Nashville-TN- The man that killed four people at a Waffle House is now in custody.  29-year old Travis Reinking opened fire and killed four people.  Police are unsure on why Reinking opened fire in the first place.  They think it may be due to mental issues.  More than 100 police troopers have been going door-to-door and looking in wooded areas for the suspect.  Days before the incident, Reinking stole a BMW; police found the stolen vehicle, but it didn’t link him to the suspect.

The four people that were killed were of different races; three were African-American and the other was Hispanic. Reinking was involved in other incidents such as in May of 2016, he told Illonois police that singer Taylor Swift was stalking him and hacking his phone.  He agreed to check into a local hospital for an evaluation.  Then last June, Reinking jumped into a community pool wearing a pink woman’s coat over his underwear.  Then last July, Secret Service arrested him for trespassing and entered the White House.  He said that he wanted to meet President Donald Trump.

“There’s certainly evidence that there’s some sort of mental health issues involved,” Tazewell County Sheriff Robert Huston said.
