Skin Care Product Reviews: The World of Nivea, CeraVe and Dove

How many of you know the importance of having a clear and hydrating skin?  I have tried over the years various of face cleanser products since I have sensitive and dry skin.  I tried Clean N Clear, but it left my face feeling tight and dry and I think my face was a little allergic to it.  I just decided not to use any cleansers on my face for awhile and just wash my face with warm water to see how it does.  Then I started using dove beauty bar to wash my face some mornings and every night especially when I wear make up.  

 

I haven’t tried the Hydrating cleanser, but I will in the near future.  This facial wash goes on really smooth and it leaves my face feeling moist and hydrated.  I can definitely feel the difference between the clean and clear brand and CeraVe brand.  I definitely recommend this brand if you are looking for a good facial wash to use.  We finally have a winner! 

I definitely wanted to try this type of dove soap since I’m always using the pink one and the original.  I grew up using Dove soap ever since I was an infant.  It is so good for your skin and it smells really good!  Now the Dove exfoliating soap smells really good too and it leaves your skin feeling renewed! It even makes my bathroom smell good! I will highly recommend any Dove products.  When it gets really cold, your body gets a little dehydrated and it requires extra moisture on your skin. 

 

Another product I’ve been using for awhile is Nivea.  Actually my dad introduced me to that brand because other lotions I was using wasn’t giving me enough moisture to my body.  I have been using Nivea products for about two years now and I love every moment of moisturizing my skin, hand and feet. 

 

This 48-hour body lotion is really good and I like the fact it has Shea butter in it.  I use Shea butter on my hair as well.

Looking for a reliable hand creme? Nivea Creme does wonders for your hands! Especially in the winter months, it gets the job done.  It’s made small so you can keep it in your car or purse.

 

Nivea Soft smells AMAZING and I enjoy smelling this scent every morning.  The big jar I use on my feet every morning along with Vaseline and Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa foot cream.  Sometimes I will use it on my skin as well.  The tube I use just on my hands and I keep that in my purse and on my desk at work.  I lotion my hands every time I wash my hands so the moisture doesn’t disappear throughout the day.  You can purchase these products at Wal-Mart, any drug store or even Target.  Oh yeah, Amazon carries them as well!

  1. Tell me more about your career of being a doctor

I am a Behavior Scientist.  I focus on helping individuals, parents, teams, and organizations change their unwanted behaviors to desired behaviors.  This is done by preparing different interventions, based on the individual’s history and life. No two individuals have the same experiences; thus every intervention is different. It is always based on the client’s needs and focus.  

  1. How did growing up in a low-income area make you want to become a better person? Did you face any challenges growing up?

The biggest challenges I faced growing up were having to grow up quickly and realizing that my future depended on my efforts.  Understanding that my Father was addicted to narcotics and spending time in and out of prison, forced me to observe, behave, and act as an adult at a very young age.  I did not have the luxury of a responsibility-free childhood. As my Mother worked hours on end to make ends meet, I knew that whatever I wanted for my future I had to make happen through my efforts. There was no safety net for me to fall back on as I walked the tight rope of life.  Adding academic and athletic excellence into the mix, it taught me a discipline and focus that allowed me to thrive. Seeing what I saw as a young child and understanding the focus needed to succeed, forced me to be the best possible version of myself from a young age. Admittedly, I still struggle at times being my greatest self but the pursuit for excellence is forever present, 

  1. I see that you are doing a lot of great things in your life, has your motivation helped others in their personal lifestyle?

I do believe it has helped others.  That can come in the form of me working with a client, my football players (I coach high school football) wanting to work as hard for me as I do for them, or old friends, family, and former students reaching out asking for my assistance in many endeavors.  It is a form of flattery when someone looks to you as motivation and shares their desire for your help.

  1. When did you decide that you were going to create the “Docs Daily Dose for Dads” podcast? How did you come up with the title?

It has always been an idea, I just wasn’t sure when to start it or what to call it.  I knew helping parents, especially Fathers was something I loved and was one of the best ways for me to be of service to those in the world.  After my first podcast with a friend ended, I knew I had the experience and know how to avoid some of the earlier hurdles and decided to get rolling on Doc’s Daily Dose for Dads.  As for the name itself, it simply came after some brainstorming in my office one night. As soon as I thought of it, I knew that would be the name of the show.

  1. What do you want people to take away from your motivational tips on your podcast?

There are 3 things I really want people to get from my daily tips.  The first is that I am not perfect and will never try to act as though I am.  I am a different cat. I may be the messenger for some and I may not, but that is okay.  Some of the things I share may work or they may not, specifically for you and that is okay as well.  The point is, I am you. The second thing coincides with the first in that I am not telling anyone what to do.  I am offering suggestions and hope to hear feedback from those who listen. It takes a village and that is the concept I am sharing.  Basically, here are some things I know work well and hope they can be of use. Lastly, though I will give insight on mindset and perspective taking, I always have something tangible, an activity you can do to see things change in your life.  So many people who offer advice talk about changing mindset but essentially, they do not provide ways to do so. This leaves the listener excited when they leave but as they enter the real world and do not have actual tangible things to do, they become lost and suffer even further.  My focus is to talk about some mindset issues but to provide everyone with a practical approach that will change behavior, behavior you can see and changes you will observe.

  1. When did your writing career as an author come about?

I have always loved to write since a very young age.  My Father did a lot of random writing and I believe watching him fill yellow notepads fueled my love for writing.  Observing him is where my writing career began. It was honed further throughout school and when publishing research experiments in graduate school.  The interesting thing is there is no genre in which I defer with respect to my writing. I have written a manuscript for an academic, peer-reviewed scientific journal to a one-man show production to philosophical papers to poetry.  If the idea is present, it can be put on paper.

  1. How many books have you written? Do you plan to write any more books in the near future?

I currently have written one book that I have never attempted to publish (saving it for some reason); a research experiment in an academic journal; a poem for an anthology; an e-book being released before the new year; and am focused on a book now that I plan on publishing.

  1. As a motivational speaker, what places have you traveled to speak at? What message do you want people to hear?

I have traveled through the United States to speak including California, Colorado, New York, Florida, and Iowa.  There are many different topics I cover. However, I think the most important is the message of understanding the necessity of the things we deem “negative,” “evil,” “bad,” or any other adjective you can come up with that we do not like as a people.  Everything in this world is inherently linked to it’s opposite. We cannot know short without tall, big without small, or good without bad. As so as everyone fights to stamp out the negative, we give no thought to its necessity. I am not suggesting we do not fight against the things we see as injustice.  What I am saying is that there is no justice without injustice. This allows us fighting for the good to respect the entity we are fighting against and understand that it is necessary for growth. If all the “bad” was demolished and only the “good” was left standing, where do we go from there? There is nowhere to go.  Thus, all growth comes from death and all death begins the process of life. Take this for what you will but know that there is nothing in this world that stand alone without it opposite. They are inherently linked and necessary for not only the balance of life but the essence of life itself.

  1. Are you currently working on any new projects?

There are a few projects in the works.  We are providing workshops, talks, one-on-one services.  There are multiple retreats for parents and their children being developed.  We also have a few video productions in the works as well as a theatrical performance, all meant to stimulate the idea of growth and changing your behavior for the better.  All info on these projects can be found on the website as well as the option to book for any services, workshops or talks.
