Taraji P. Henson Launches Foundation to Bring Awareness for Mental Health and to Honor her Dad

Actress Taraji P. Henson just launched a new foundation called “The Boris Henson Foundation” in honor of her late father that passed away in 2006 due to liver cancer.  But the main reason why Henson is doing this is to increase awareness for mental health among the black community.

Her father also suffered with mental health so Henson wanted to do something revolving around that.  He was also a Vietnam veteran who suffered through various of things; being homeless was one of them.  Henson named the foundation (BLHF) after her dad is because of his unconditional love.  The foundation will launch a special fundraiser called “Taraji’s Boutique of Hope” which will be held on September 22nd in Beverly Hills.  The goal of the fundraiser is to raise funds to provide resources to increase mental health support in urban schools.

Was Blac Chyna Wrong for Her Actions at Six Flags?

The news with Blac Chyna and 18-year old boyfriend YBN Almighty Jay is surfing and eating the internet sites like crazy! Of course by now, I hope you all have seen the video of Blac Chyna’s rant and out-of-character rant at Six Flags while enjoying herself with her kids and boyfriend.  I’m not going to repeat what happened; you can simply visit http://www.tmz.com to read the detailed story.  But yoooo, really?? I understand trying to protect your children from danger and harm and yes that’s totally fine, but when you get buck-wild and show your “ghetto” side, it can be very messy. Now hear me correctly that I felt Blac Chyna was only trying to protect Dream, but it turned almost into a deadly scene.  If you don’t want people touching your kids, just simply tell them “Please don’t touch my child or children” in a nice respectful way.  But nahhhhh, Blac Chyna decided to show her ghetto side and tried to “swing” the baby stroller at the victim (who is 18 years old and came forward)  I mean by watching the video, the girl did called Blac Chyna a hood rat and that’s what sparked a fuel in Blac Chyna to go beat her butt!  So the real question is, “Is Blac Chyna in the wrong for checking the random chick about touching her daughter without permission?” In these days and times, you don’t touch NOBODY’S child unless you have permission to do so!  But the whole stroller situation was a bit insane, because now new news has been confirmed that  a stroller company she was collaborating with called “Momiie” has now been terminated according to The Hollywood Unlocked website.  After the stroller incident used as a weapon was the final last straw and pulled the plug with Blac Chyna.  SMH.  First her sex tape was leaked and now this! When will it be over?  Not only to mention that her EX Rob Kardashian wants to take her to court and try to reduce child custody for Dream.  A lot of people agreed that Blac Chyna should have handled the situation in a better way.  It would have made things a lot better in my opinion.

Then to have your boyfriend try to jump in and allegedy punched the victim in the face? (according to the 18-year old known as Sexxii Lexxii on Twitter)

So Rob is thinking about having some rules for Blac Chyna and her boyfriends she has that they aren’t allowed to be introduced to the kids unless the relationship has been solid for at least six months.  I totally agree with that new solution.

So after doing some more research of the story of Blac Chyna and the stroller incident, I come across this video that now the victim has CHANGED up her story when she talked to TMZ! We got the official receipts and the exact words of this victim claiming “she slapped the Dog S*** out of Blac Chyna!” I’m not sure if Blac Chyna should sue this young chick but now I’m wondering why she changed up her story? Lawwddd, I’m getting stressed reading all this mess Blac Chyna has stirred up and not to mention, her young boo thang is caught in the middle defending his boo no matter what the wrong she has done.

The Bailey Sisters, Chloe and Halle performing at the BET 2016 Hip Hop Awards

The Bailey Sisters; Chloe x Halle are blowing up the music stream when their debut album “The Kids are Alright” was released March 23rd.  These young sisters has always been musically inspired way before the 2016 BET performance.  Back in 2013, Beyoncé Knowles was the ones who discovered the musically talented sisters after seeing the Pretty Hurts cover on the Bailey sister’s You Tube page that went viral.  What a great way to get Queen Bey’s attention.  2014 was a great year as the good news that they were signed to Bey’s Parkwood Entertainment Record Label made everything the sisters worked hard for stick to solid concrete.  Way to go Chloe and Halle!

““We literally were flipping out, because as young girls, of course everyone looks up to Beyoncé,” Halle, 17, says.  (source from http://www.ew.com)

The Kids are Alright and You can now download the entire album on Itunes Music today!

Lit Music Review

cropped-get-plugged-up.png

After listening to the entire album two days in a row, there was definitely a connection with each song as it told a story about life in it’s very own way.  Check out some of That Riverz Gurl Media’s favorite songs on the album:

~Hello Friend (Intro) This is the very first song and I could feel the warmth of the introduction that talks about embracing the self-love of you.  We all talk to ourselves sometimes and embrace life of our own.

~The Kids are Alright– This is the second song on the album.  The beat and vocals on this track is so amazing.  It’s just refreshing to hear the positivity energy of Chloe x Halle letting the world know that they are alright and they are here to stay for the long run.  You can’t allow the world to steal your joy, so doing you and what makes you happy is the best meditation ever! Awesome sauce!

~Grown- Okay so we all should know that this is the theme song to Freeform’s new show “Grown-ish” starring Yara Shahidi (this show is off the charts!)  It just basically tells the story of how they are at the point of life that they are mature and grown.  We all have reached that point in our life when we start feeling ourselves and think we can do what we want to do. Lol.

~Everywhere- The fifth song on the album! “I got money everywhere falling off the trees….I got money everywhere as far as you can seeee….”  Let’s make it rain yall because we got money everywhere we walk! Money cometh to me NOW!  The beat to this track is Lit!  And their vocals fits every beat and instrumental tune.

~Fake( featuring Kari Faux)- Very self-explanatory.  This world is filled with them and you just have to walk in life being humble.  Sometimes the fake ones are the ones who are always in our space without even knowing it.  “Why you even speak my name…..I guess you feel some type of way.”

~Cool People- This song has that sweet medley in the beginning; soft-spoken and easy.  This song is just a reminder that there are still cool and decent people in the world.

~Baby on the Plane- The opening to this song is sooo cute.  A baby voice crying on a plane.  I’m not sure what the inspiration was behind this particular track, but I love it indeed!  My interpretation of this song is crying out all of your pain and worries.

Overall the entire album is awesome!  This is the type of music that should be on major radio stations all over the world! Music like this with a solid meaning on each of the track gives life to us all!  That Riverz Gurl Media definitely rate the album a 10!  Great job ladies!

The Kids are Alright Musical Score with That Riverz Gurl Media Entertainment Website is a 10  ladies and gentlemen!

Author Spotlight: Bianca Lynnette

Screenshot_2017-11-05-00-58-21-1

  • How did your writing journey begin?

I started writing as a pre-teen. I was a quiet child growing up with a lot on my mind, so I resulted to writing poetry.

  • Was writing something you always wanted to accomplish as one of your goals?

Yes, most definitely.

  • What do you want your readers to take away when reading your books?

My number one message for my readers is for them to know that they have the power to speak lyfe no matter what’s going on around them.  I want them to be empowered and to know they have a voice.  It is very imperative that they know how much their voice matters.

  • How many books have you written?

I’ve written and published one book and co-authored on one book.

  • Do you plan to publish more in the future?

I sure do!

  • Have you had any book signings? If so, how did that go? If not, do you plan to have one to connect with new readers?

Yes I’ve had a few book signings and I’ve also sold my books at my events. I think book signings are an awesome opportunity for your readers and supporters to get to know you as both an Author and a person. They get to hear about your mission and I truly believe people support purpose. I do plan to have future book signings because I love connecting to new people and I also plan to add on to my current book.

  • What marketing strategies do you use for your books?

For my marketing strategies I use social media to promote my book, I host events that are centered or include my tagline to help promote my book and I’ve also added shirts to support my Speak Lyfe movement.

  • Are there any challenges getting people to support you?

Yes, unfortunately. I’m grateful for my stream of supporters, however, it definitely can be a challenge.

  • What is your writing style like? Any special places you like to go and write at?

It really depends on what I’m writing. Sometimes I like to write in an open space or outside. At times I like to write to music, it helps me to stay in my zone. My ideal writing location outside of Starbucks would be near water on a beautiful day.

  • How can readers connect with you and buy your books?

They can reach me on fb as Bianca Lynnette Speak Lyfe, IG: Speaklyfe_bianca, my books are available on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble as well as my website Iambiancalynnette.myshopify.com

  • Tell the readers more about the types of books you write? Are some of them based on real life experiences?

“Speak Lyfe: 31 Days to a New You!” will always be a personal favorite of mine. When I was going through a dark place in my life, I literally had to look myself in the mirror and say these exact affirmations everyday for 30 days. This along with daily prayer helped to save my life. In the “Walking in my Identity” book collab I shared on a very personal point in my life that stemmed from me learning to embrace my voice. Overall I prefer to write both about my life experiences and on empowerment but I won’t limit it to that because you never know what God has planned for you.

Writing Tips for the Soul

coffee-cup-desk-pen.jpg

I started writing at the age of nine.  Not quite sure how I started though, but God had a plan and He surely blessed me with the gift at a very early age.  I started out writing short stories that embraced my imagination.  Honesty I can’t even remember what I was writing about, but all I knew, I had a real gift that everyone couldn’t have.  Some years later, I became an author publishing my first book in 2012 called A Collection of God’s Word and Motivation (collection of inspiration poetry)  Since then, I’ve published a total of six books.

I wanted to do something different on my blog geared towards writers (new or old), authors and blogging and of course journalers (I just made that word up lol)  So I decided to do writing tips.  God knows I can still use the help on writing, because every writer isn’t perfect!  Always embrace learning more about writing.  So here we go!

Writing Tips to the Golden Soul

  1. Write Consistently– One way to get better at writing is if you are writing at least once a day.  All you need is your notebook, pen or pencil, some music and maybe a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and get to writing.  It doesn’t all have to be in complete sentences, but jotting down your thoughts helps to calm your mind.  Do you normally have various of topics to write on? That helps as well.pexels-photo-302440.jpeg
  2. Keep a Journal– Oh how I love a journal!  I would always journal in high school writing about my day.  I’m not sure why I stopped, but I definitely need to get back into the swing of journaling again.  If you don’t have one, now is the time to invest in a nice journal (preferably from Wal-mart or any bookstore) and write about your day. pexels-photo-261735.jpeg
  3. Read a good book– I think this is the most important thing for writers!  To gather great ideas for a short story or even a novel, reading helps a lot.  I started a good book earlier last month called “Lady Elect 4” which I haven’t finished yet, but is good for my writing skills.  Ask your friends or family for reading suggestions to add to your library and take notes.  pexels-photo-864938.png
  4. Research topics- I love the beauty of the internet because you can search anything if you have a question.  Sometimes if I want more insight and information on the topic I’m blogging on, I go to http://www.google.com and type in the topic.  Use the internet to the best of your ability especially when it comes to writing. pexels-photo-218717.jpeg
  5. Stay focused- Once we get into our very own writing pattern, the rest is history!  Try to at least spend 30 minutes writing about anything.  Never lose focus of your gift.  If you enjoy writing as much as I do, it will come very natural to you. coffee-cup-stack-break.jpg
